Since I don't have alot of time to devote to music snobbery - I just look at www.pitchforkmedia.com. As Brad suggested on Facebook, Eric Dusel and Michael Allen are also a good source for information.

Normally, I'll hear something on XMU, The Verge, or pandora that I like, then check them out further. Or occasionally I'll read something about a band or magazine that piques my interest (speaking of which, check out these guys, whose bassist was interviewed in Tape Op.)

sharon jones and the dap kings sound really good. i'm not much for soul or r&b but i can definitely get down with that funk. new music...hmm, well i'll do genre searches sometimes on itunes or myspace looking for artists i might like. that or talk to Michael Allen or Eric Dusel

Several ways: 1. Friends in other countries -great music coming out of Sweden, the UK, and Germany!) 2. Myspace.com -i'm a dork. if i hear something i like on someone's profile, i'm checking the music out 3. Lastfm.com-when i play music on my itunes, a bio about the artist pops up and it recommends artists that are similar to that) 4. Paste Magazine-i'm on the email list 5. Reading random music blogs on hypem.com

horizon. trash or treasure box. amazing. You aint kiddin'! ;D Personally, I have been totally unaware of what's going on in Greenville which is sad but I felt like the air was dead. I'm seeing that I might be wrong. Most of the stuff I like, musically, isn't even from America. But I find out about stuff in the strangest of ways... my little secret.
