So, I could just add a wish list of bands here (which I totally plan to do). However, what about giving more exposure to great local bands? I would love to see a venue in Greenville book Tony Tidwell. He has been a consistent presence in the Clemson scene for years and his music deserves to be heard by a larger audience.
Now that I got that off my chest... on with the list:
Bill Callahan (Smog) Mountain Goats Bright Eyes Danielle Howle Magnolia Electric Co (or any Jason Molina project) Rilo Kiley (or any Jenny Lewis project)

Had it last fall, doublebooked by the venue. #1 impedement to shows happening - most of the people who say they want to see things never show up when they happen.

Michellerock reunion of just one person Dave Bazan Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin SSSSufjan Half-Handed Cloud Tilly & the Wall a million more, but more on that later. SSLYBY played a library show in Spartanburg along opening for Harry and the Potters - which means they played for 50-100 people age 2-12 (most with parents) who were jumping, throwing balloons, talking through their entire set and otherwise creating an inhospitable environment that made them look very discouraged on stage. They would be better sports than I if they returned to the Upstate anytime soon. That being said, realistic (40 Watt/Cat's Cradle/Orange Peel-excluding-The Smashing Pumpkins-esque) suggestions: The Starlight Mints Band of Horses The Rosebuds Wolf Parade Magnolia Electric Co.

I definitely concur on Dave Bazzan and Damien Jurado. Rilo Kiley, or just jenny would rock as well. but Damien Jurado would satisfy my indie tooth for a couple months at least.
